Storage Architechture PDF Print E-mail
The HPC facility currently has 220 Tera Bytes of Storage Capacity in a Tape Silo.

The Storage Capacity is made available via Hirachical Storage Management using SGI's DMF product and is supported by approximately 20 TBytes of total disk space.

An overview diagram of our Storage Architecture is available and in pdf format.

The recently introduced Tier2 consists of 11 TB of SATA based Raid.
Currently 5.5 TB is in service with the remainder available for new services.

Local client data is made available to multiple systems using SGI's SAN based CXFS filesystem and DMF. In general DMF is tuned to minimise tape recalls and operate transparently to clients.
However, clients can expect to see delays when accessing older sets of files and use of specific DMF commands is then recommended.
