Installing MATLAB on your ComputerThe Matlab license is purchased for University research activities, and is made available for any researcher connected to the UQ network. The list of currently available features (toolboxes) is available at http://www.hpcu.uq.edu.au/hpc/content/view/200/34/. The license may also be used at home or when at conferences, by connecting with the UQ VPN network client software. Please note that for teaching use, an alternate classroom license is also available. Please contact us for further details. What you will needInstall the software- Insert the DVD or unpack the software and run the installer.
- Select "Install manually without the Internet"
- Under Linux, you must then provide a root directory path for the intallation.
- If prompted select "I have the File Installation Key for my license"
- Enter the FIK code available above.
- Under Windows a "Typical" installation is recommended. Then provide the installation directory path.
- Under Linux, you will be offered a list of Matlab components and should remove "License Manager".
- When prompted for the License file location, provide the path to the two line license configuration file you saved from "What you will need".
- MAC USERS - Installation from Web file: Some installer files are extracted to incorrect locations, preventing the installer from finding any Matlab components to install. After expanding the Zip file and then the MacInstaller "tar" file, move the "Installer" Application folder and the "update" folder up one directory level prior to running.
- MAC USERS - Installation from Original DVD: The 2008a installer fails to copy the license file into place. You will need to manually copy the licence file to file : "/Applications/MATLAB_2008a/licenses/network.lic"
- LINUX USERS: if you have zip zip file containing a file boot.ftp then: unpack the zip file in some new/empty directory and within that directory execute the command 'tar -xf boot.ftp. Then run the 'install' program.
