The High Performance Computing facility supports the research programs of The University of Queensland and its QcIF partners.
The facility provides access to Computing, Data storage, Visualisation and a range of software for scientific, engineering and software development.
HPC systems are currently 3 SGI Altix Parrallel computers providing a total of 144 Intel Itanium processors.
A Storage Area Network links the HPC systems with 5 TeraBytes of disk to provide common home directories, fast access scratch space and 70 TeraBytes of near line Tape storage.
The
ViSAC visualisation room provides a large screen emersive projection
system cabable of 3d display of molecular structure or other models to
groups of up to 20. The lab also provides 24 hour access to development
workstations.
A range of software applications are licensed to support the current research activities. Several applications are site licensed and available for research activity on UQ campus workstations.
