The CPUs connect through a high speed fabric to directly share and access a single memory space.
This architecture minimises memory latency to provide increased efficiency of parallel tasks.

"Storm" is an SGI Altix with 64 Itanium 2 CPUs and 120 Gytes of memory. It is connected to the HPC SAN storage infrastructure for both local scratch and shared home directories.
